Built in 1847 & then restored, The Catalpa House is an idyllic retreat near the heart of Kingston set on 1.4 acres. The house is the product of a restoration by a family of master artists.
The home's entrance opens to a tiled entry, living room, guest bedroom & a half bath- french doors lead to a porch. Stairs lead to the 1st floor. An open kitchen & dining area lead out to a stone-walled herb & vegetable garden & courtyard. The 3rd floor hosts a primary bedroom, ensuite bath & balcony. The 2nd bedroom, full bath, and laundry closet are also on this level.
Restored windows & preserved wavy glass, the house is filled with natural light from dawn to dusk. Venetian plaster walls, restored wide plank floors & all the beams & posts are either original or solid cherry wood. The kitchen has Fisher Paykel appliances, a Forte stove, polished concrete countertops, & custom cabinetry.
